At the International British School of Popești-Leordeni, our educational provision is guided by the National Curriculum for England, offering pupils a strong academic foundation within a nurturing and inspiring environment.
In Key Stage 1, covering Years 1 and 2 for children aged 5 to 7, we foster confidence, curiosity, independence, and a love of learning through a carefully balanced and thoughtfully delivered curriculum. Our approach combines academic rigour with creativity, warmth, and child-centred teaching, ensuring that every pupil develops secure core skills while flourishing socially, emotionally, and personally.
The curriculum includes the core subjects of English, Mathematics, and Science, alongside a broad range of foundation subjects, including Art and Design, Computing, Design and Technology, Geography, History, Music, and Physical Education. Pupils also benefit from Relationships and Health Education and Religious Education, supporting their wider personal development and understanding of the world around them.
Alongside the National Curriculum for England, we also follow the Romanian National Curriculum for the compulsory Romanian subjects, namely Mathematics in Romanian and Romanian Language.
As the majority of our pupils are Romanian, EAL (English as an Additional Language) lessons as part of our daily timetable, providing children with the support they need to develop confidence and fluency in English.
We believe that education begins with strong foundations – roots grounded in Romanian values, culture, and identity – while giving every child the confidence and capability to thrive in a global world.
