💫 OUR HISTORY

The International British School of Popești-Leordeni was founded in 2014, originally under the name “Grădinița cu Program Prelungit Maria Natalia”.

It was established in response to the needs of the local community, with the aim of providing optimal conditions for the academic, social, and emotional development of approximately 100 nursery and preschool children.

Driven by a desire to create a balanced, modern, and inclusive educational environment, the kindergarten was designed as a place where the traditions of Romanian education blend seamlessly with a contemporary approach to learning.

Our primary goal was to provide a safe and nurturing setting where children could thrive and develop at their own pace through a holistic and empathetic approach.

Over the past 12 years, the institution enrolled more than 2,000 nursery and preschool children, providing them with a solid foundation for the development of their academic, emotional, and social skills.

In 2023, Maria Natalia Kindergarten was officially accredited as an educational institution recognised for its high educational standards based on the Romanian National Curriculum, further strengthening the quality and recognition of our educational provision.

In 2024, as a natural progression and in response to the growing population of Popești-Leordeni, a second fully accredited campus was inaugurated, continuing our tradition of educational excellence.

In 2025, our third campus opened its doors in an ultra-modern facility designed to meet the highest standards of comfort, safety, and technological innovation, receiving official accreditation in June of that year. This milestone also marked an important expansion of our institutional development plan, paving the way for the introduction of our primary school division.

Driven by our commitment to safeguarding, continuous growth and our aim of providing children with the best national and international educational practices, a fourth campus was established.
This new site brings together all our educational branches under one unified identity: IBSPL.

This marks the first international educational institution of its kind in Popești-Leordeni – a forward-thinking nursery and primary school where the authentic values of Romanian education harmoniously blend with British educational standards. Together, they shape confident, well-rounded young people who are fully prepared for a globalised world.

The school is governed by a Board of Directors, specialists in education, communications, law, and finance, alongside representatives of the parents and the local community. This ensures transparency, professionalism, and continuity in the institution’s ongoing development.
