At International British School of Popești-Leordeni, we believe that education should provide children with both strong roots in Romania and wide horizons to the world.

For the Early Years, we follow both the Romanian Curriculum and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This allows us to create a balanced educational pathway that combines the national educational requirements with the principles of the British early years framework.

For Year 1, we follow the British National Curriculum, while continuing to support children’s connection to the Romanian educational local context.

This integrated approach offers children an internationally oriented education, while also ensuring continuity with the Romanian system.

The EYFS Curriculum focuses on seven key areas of learning and development, divided into three Prime Areas and four Specific Areas.

These areas support children in developing communication skills, confidence, independence, physical coordination, social skills, early literacy, numeracy, creativity and curiosity about the world around them.

Children are encouraged to learn through play, exploration, discovery, communication, movement, creativity and meaningful experiences. Each activity is carefully planned to meet the developmental needs of the child and to help them grow with confidence, joy and a love of learning.

Alongside the curriculum, children are continuously supported in improving their English communication skills through additional English as an Additional Language activities. These activities help children develop listening and speaking skills, vocabulary, pronunciation, understanding and confidence in using English naturally in daily routines, classroom interactions, stories, songs, games and projects.

Our current educational pathway includes:

Toddlers: 2–3 years old
Nursery: 3–4 years old
Reception: 4–6 years old
Year 1: 5–6 years old

In the coming years, we are planning to extend our educational pathway by introducing Year 2 and Key Stage 2, ensuring continuity, progression and a strong academic foundation within an international curriculum framework.

At International British School of Popești-Leordeni, we aim to help children become confident, curious, kind, independent and creative learners. We support them in developing the skills, values and knowledge they need in order to grow beautifully, express themselves clearly, build positive relationships and discover the world with enthusiasm.

Our curriculum is more than a programme of study.
It is a journey of growth, confidence, discovery and belonging.
It is the foundation through which every child is seen, supported, encouraged and guided to reach their full potential.
